My name
is Lisa DiMaggio. I solely, own
and operate, Glitzy Girlz. My
professional life has been a
blessing beyond my dreams of
success. I started my company in
2001 with passion and ambition.
My love for children was my
inspiration, but my desire for
success was my motivation. I
have a very colorful, creative
side to me which I was able to
collaborate together into a
striving small business. Glitzy
Girlz is a huge part of my life
and without it my existence
would not be whole and
rewarding. I followed a dream of
working with young children and
being my own boss to enrich
lives and create memories
forever.
I have two young sons of my own
and a wonderful supportive
husband of 13 years. It seems
like this is a blog of a
“perfect life”, right? For
nobody can imagine the pain and
disappointment I have endured in
my personal life.
I am using Glitzy Girlz as a
platform to begin a movement I
hope will reach millions
someday. My mission is to
educate and stop the spread of
Drug Abuse in children and young
adults. I like many, have been
sadly affected by the
devastation of drugs in a
family…
Growing up, I was the oldest of
three children. My mother and
father were hard-working blue
collar class individuals. I have
a sister and a brother who
unfortunately choose the wrong
path in life. For what I have
witnessed the past eight years
of my life has brought me to
this point of inspiration….
My new “dream” is to start a
mission called “Dreams Over
Drugs Campaign.” I aspire to
have the opportunities to speak
at schools, host community
events for drug awareness and
one day start community outreach
locations. Here young children
can speak with others about
drugs and stay away from drug
influence by being around a
positive environment and good
kids having fun. There has not
been a national drug campaign
since “Say No To Drugs” and that
was decades ago. I would like to
be One Voice on a mission to
start a new one.
If you are viewing this site,
you most likely have child/ren
and you need to do everything to
protect them. Do NOT think that
church on Sunday or being a
girl/boy scout will keep this
destroyer away. You can read
statistics and hear stories, but
living the nightmare is not
conceivable till you know
someone who has endured it. My
story is living proof that it
can any person, family, social
class, neighborhood. I being one
of three children raised in the
same family with the same
parents have never tried a drug
in my entire life. Figure that
one out? Your children are never
exempt and that is the best
advice I can give you. Help me
start a movement to educate your
children.
Our children are prompted to
make choices in their life
starting from elementary school.
The problem with speaking to
high schools and teens is that
most of the time..it is too
late..Our timing has to be early
in childhood. They must FEAR
drugs and have enough awareness
and knowledge to fight when the
time comes to make those
choices. Too many parents feel
they do not need to talk about
drugs till they are older, but
actually you are wrong. The
earlier you educate and create
fear, the better prepared they
are in life.
It is out there…do not be
ignorant to ignore it..if it
happens to you and your
family..many times there is no
going back.
Do you know the average wait is
30 days to get a bed/spot in a
rehab center in Chicago? Do you
know there are only one or two
rehabs that are state funded in
Chicago? Think about that
information. If it takes 30 days
to get treatment, can you
imagine the staggering numbers
of drug abusers who WANT help?
By then, they give up and go
back to drugs.
The reason my campaign is called
“Dreams Over Drugs” is because
dreams are what keep people
focused and positive in life. If
I had followed the path of my
siblings, I would have never
been blessed with the enrichment
of Glitzy Girlz. I would never
have had the opportunity to live
through the smiles and laughter
of our youth.
The bridge between those two
worlds was a spiritual
connection I was given by a
higher power. I truly believe, I
was chosen for this life for a
greater reason. Something good
has to come out of what I have
witnessed.
It is now my passion to save
them from drugs. I want to teach
children to never let go of
their dreams to drugs.
Please help me be a role model
to our youth.
You can help me by forwarding me
any information on how to reach
media outlets, speaking
opportunities, funding sponsors,
or any ideas you may have to
launch my campaign. Please check
our website periodically to find
out about special events for
funding or how to raise money
for my dream of opening a
outreach location. We hope to
start touring schools and
getting awareness back to our
children.
I have tried a “ambitious”
campaign to reach Oprah Winfrey,
but may have been shooting a bit
too high. There are others out
there and I need the power of
celebrity to help.
